Paul Nice - Choice Cuts

Unfortunately today is a sad day for American Muslims, especially for African-American Muslims. One of the best known and loved leader of Muslims in the US, WD Mohammed, has died on September 9th (9th of Ramadaan) and accordingly to Muslim tradition he was buried within two sunsets (48 hours) after his death. Today was the janazah (muslim funeral prayer) for this great man. From Malcolm X to Muhammad Ali,Mos Def,Everlast and Congressman Keith Ellison "The Imam" ,as he was known, touched the lives of many people. And as blogger Abdur Rahman Muhammad wrote:

"Over the past 35 years, it has been impossible to discuss the reality of Islam in America without mentioning the leadership of Imam Mohammed. His place in American history is secure, and the impact of his ministry can be seen in the thousands of young adult Muslims who were raised making salat, fasting the month of Ramadan, performing the hajj, going to college and raising stable Muslim families."

As immigrants from Muslim countries decreases and more and more people are converting to Islam his ideas,leadership and accomplishments will becoming even more important for the growth and stability of Islam in the US. His presence and leadership will indeed be missed by millions.
