Stephen Covey - The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People

Now this book is one of my favorites. Author Stephen Covey writes about how to use age old spiritual principles to implement positive change in your life. A definite eye opener for those not spiritually sound or aware.

Before you can adopt the seven habits, you'll need to accomplish what Covey calls a "paradigm shift"--a change in perception and interpretation of how the world works. Covey takes you through this change, which affects how you perceive and act regarding productivity, time management, positive thinking, developing your "proactive muscles" (acting with initiative rather than reacting), and much more.

This isn't a quick-tips-start-tomorrow kind of book. The concepts are sometimes intricate, and you'll want to study this book, not skim it.

Hamza Yusuf - The Seven Steps of Highly Effective Muslims

In this lecture Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Hanson (al Maliki) uses LDS Author Stephen Covey's book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" as a primer for illustrating how the principles discussed in the book are traits found within successful Muslims including the Prophet Muhammad. Although Shaykh Hamza does use alot of arabic phrases in this lecture I think for the most part non-muslims would still benefit from this lecture.

RIP MJ - Omega NYC - Adriana Evans Mixed

Unlike many blogs who have (and will post) hastily done tribute mixes to Michael's legacy by deejays who more than likely never played a MJ tune with any frequency. You won't find that here on my blog. That behavior seems like more of same thing that occurred while MJ was alive....people using his fame to gain some shine for themselves.

I will instead relate a song I think reflects Michael Jackson's talent and legacy. This is one of my favorites and upon listening to it reminds one of why Michael was such musical legend. The way his voice envelopes the beat. The way he drifts between restrained emotion to his passionate high notes just draws the listener into world of Michael's musical genius. Now I bring you not an older song but a more recent one produced by Michael Jackson & Andre Harris. Though not written by Michael but by Floetry's Marsha Ambrosius. It is still a true reflection of MJ's legacy, What it was and what it could have been.

Why Adriana Evans never gained mainstream success is beyond me. Her vocal ability, the sweet sound of her voice and the music she made (with dope producer Dred Scott) back in 1997 had all the ingredients of a legend in the making but for some unseen reason is wasn't to be. Now for those who aren't aware of Adriana but are aware of J Dilla's Detroit soulful sound I suggest you check this new mix by Omega NYC of Adriana's tunes and discover what you have been missing.

"Adriana’s debut record was, by all accounts, magnificent and groundbreaking. Often called the first "neo-soul record,” the use of live instrumentation and Adriana’s classic, jazz-infused vocals stood out amongst the more digitally-produced, synthesizer-heavy R&B music of that time."
